Dr. Peter Kamunyo

Dr. Kamunyo is the Chief Executive Officer of MedSource. He is a health care executive with experience spanning more than 18 years in management, operations, and clinical medicine experience, including the insurance, pharmaceutical and medical care industries in Kenya.
His professional background incorporates senior management positions at prominent health care institutions in the country, including GlaxoSmithKline as the Country Commercial Director and Vaccines & Public Institutions Head, where he provided innovation, large-team supervision, and strategic management. During his tenure as general manager for Aon Insurance Brokers, he led the Africa Healthcare Practice Group. In his stint at Resolution Health East Africa operations, he established claims, case management, strategy and operations as well as information and communications technology departments. In addition to the above, he sits on the boards of the East African Healthcare Federation and the Kenya Healthcare Federation.
Dr. Kamunyo holds a Master of Science Degree in Public Health from University of London, a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery Degree (MBChB) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Sexually Transmitted Infections and HIV management, both from the University of Nairobi. He is also a fellow with Capacity Building for Effective Healthcare (CBEH), sponsored by GIZ. He holds a certificate of proficiency in Insurance. His social call to action is to drive innovative health care management and solutions in Africa that promote quality and cost containment with favourable medical outcomes.
