Sr. Director and Chief Nursing Officer, Cerner Middle East.

Deirdre Stewart is a highly regarded chief nurse executive, who focuses on driving clinical excellence through informatics, in the Middle East and Asia. The depth of her industry knowledge, coupled with deep cultural awareness and trusted relationships, ensures she and her clients are successful. Deirdre is the "go-to" person across continents when it comes to helping clients achieve international accreditations, supported by their health information technology. She does this by simply "keeping the patient in the middle", driving for better clinical outcomes and workflows, which also enhance the clinician experience.

Leadership experience
Deirdre trained as a nurse in Dublin but has been in the Middle East since 1985 having 36 years of nursing and information technology experience. She has been able to bring her knowledge and deep nursing experience to bear, on the design of systems resulting in safer, more predictable care and where excellence is proven, in improved clinical, financial and operational outcomes.

Team Development
Deirdre develops high achieving teams who are sought after worldwide and who bring part of her open, honest, engaging and humorous manner with them. She is a devoted professional networker, forging relationships across the world and introducing people and organizations to each other, to produce great synergies within the health and care industries.

CSR and Wellness
Deirdre leads the team of Wellness Ambassadors in Cerner Middle East. Through their efforts, all employees are challenged and educated in how to enjoy a safe, sustainable and healthy work environment. Community activities such as "Tough Mudder",or "Colour Run" challenges the fitness of the teams. Fund raising events such as one for a Maternity Hospital in Rwanda, brought life-saving equipment and supplies to babies who need it so much. Another example is the delivery of gift boxes to labour camps in UAE and Qatar.

Education Legacy
Deirdre hosts clinical education and collaboration events, teaches informatics across the Middle East and Asia. She also speaks at many industry conferences and events each year, sharing her expertise, knowledge and recommendations. She has received a DAISY award – celebrating nurses who provide extraordinary and compassionate care, every day. While not bedside nursing now, her clinical workflow design decisions can impact up to 30M patients across the Middle East – something she takes very seriously.
Deirdre is dedicated to leaving a legacy in the Middle East and Asia, of people who have the same passion for and understanding of clinical informatics and how those are incorporated into an evidence based healing environment.
