Michael Koss is the CEO and Co-Founder of Global Patient Portal, an Australian digital health startup that has been dedicated to developing solutions specifically for the Indian market. His achievements include:

  • Launching a social venture digital health system in West Bengal
  • Awarded the Worldachievers International prize for Best Healthcare Social Portal of the Year
  • Consulting in the public and private sectors across India to develop strategies for digital health uptake
  • Facilitating increased bilateral ties between India and Australia in the healthcare sector
  • Speaking at events around Australia, India and the USA on digital health and developing business strategies for companies wishing to enter the Indian healthcare market
Prior to devoting his work fulltime to Global Patient Portal, Michael was a Commercial Lawyer in Australia where he gained experience working in some of the country's largest organisations. He also holds post graduate qualifications in Law. Since beginning to work in the digital health space in India, Michael has worked with various State Governments around the country to assist in developing their digital health policy. He is also an active member of NatHealth. Michael was also a 2016 delegate on the Australia India Youth Dialogue. He is a company director in Australia and India and sits on several boards. Currently, Michael is focused on bringing new digital health solutions to market in India. His primary objective to promote collaboration and efficient use of resources in order to extend the reach of healthcare among the bottom and middle of the pyramid in urban areas. In order to develop these products he has fostered relationships across the India healthcare sector. As such he is a sought after speaker, panellist and thought leader in this field offering critical analysis of the market. In 2015, Michael was invited to Nepal following the earthquake to provide advice and strategy for how digital health can be leveraged to protect populations in the event of disasters. He has also been fortunate to contribute to policy regarding privacy, health data and medical devices in India and abroad. Michael considers himself an adopted son of India and is grateful for the opportunities to positively impact the middle and bottom of the pyramid across the country. In his spare time, Michael provides assistance to companies in the health sector in India, Australia, the USA and Israel to assist with strategy for entering new markets, product development, seeking investment and formulating collaborations. For him, it has been a particular joy to be able to facilitate the international objectives of Indian organisations and assist them in achieving funding and traction in foreign markets.
